Travel & Flights
Passports
Friendly reminder to please check your passport expiration date. Six months validity is recommended. At least 3 months validity beyond your planned date of departure is crucial.
Booking Flights
East Coaters:
We have been told the best thing to do is fly to Mexico City and then Oaxaca rather than flying to Dallas first. This way, if there is a delay or cancellation in Dallas or another airport Mexico city has multiple flights to Oaxaca a day.
West Coasters:
We recommend flying out of TJ! Hit us up if you have questions on the best way to do that.
Staying Healthy in Oaxaca
We can’t wait to celebrate with you in beautiful Oaxaca! Since the city sits at about 5,100 feet above sea level, and new foods, water, or travel changes can sometimes throw your system off, here are some simple tips to help you stay feeling your best and avoid any travel-related tummy troubles:
Water Safety
Don’t drink tap water:
Stick to bottled or filtered water. The hotels and restaurants we will be in provide safe drinking water.
Use bottled water for brushing your teeth:
It may feel extra, but it’s worth it!
Food Safety
Be cautious with raw foods:
Stick to cooked veggies over raw salads.
Peel it or wash it:
If eating fruit, choose ones you can peel (like bananas, mangoes, or oranges) or wash them with bottled water.
Immune System Prep
Prep your gut:
A strong immune system starts in the gut. Bring Pepto / Imodium in case of any stomach issues.
Stay hydrated :
Drink plenty of water, before and during the trip. Hydration is also key when adjusting to the altitude.
Wash your hands & use sanitizer:
A travel-size hand sanitizer is your best friend!
Altitude Tips for Visiting Oaxaca
Oaxaca City sits at about 5,100 feet above sea level, higher than many people are used to (similar to Denver’s altitude)! While most guests adjust with no issues, some may feel mild effects from the altitude, especially the first day or two. Here are a few simple tips to help your body adjust so you can feel your best:
Stay Hydrated:
Drink plenty of water before and during your trip. Dehydration is more common at higher elevations, and staying hydrated can help prevent headaches and fatigue. We reccommend LMNT Packets!
Rest and Ease Into Activity:
If you’re arriving a couple days before the wedding, give yourself some time to relax and acclimate. Try not to overdo it with physical activity right away.
Eat Lightly and Often:
Some people find their digestion is a bit slower at altitude, so small, frequent meals can help.
Most travelers feel perfectly fine after a short adjustment period, but if you have any concerns or pre-existing health conditions, check in with your doctor before your trip. We want you to feel great and enjoy every moment of your time in Oaxaca!
By following these tips, you’ll be all set to enjoy Oaxaca without any hiccups. See you soon!
